DanAKADan's Story
I was scrolling through this Facebook group that I'm involved in called China's Children International. It is a group of Chinese adoptees and parents of adoptees. I saw this one girl post, “My one friend found her biological parents, I am happy but sad at the same time”. I think it’s hard for many people to relate to the confusion and sadness that one feels when hope is so nearby but so far away.
Chinese adoptees understand that the probability of us finding our birth parents is extremely low. With over hundreds of thousands of children in our same position, all trying to find their birth parents with little to no information… Seems impossible. But, with the right information, the right people and luck, it can be done.
I found Dan a couple years ago when I was scrolling through Youtube (I was probably looking up adoption videos). Anyways, Dan is a Korean adoptee and I am sharing his personal documented story on finding his birth family and FINDING OUT HE HAS A TWIN BROTHER. His adoption was open, which is different than Chinese, but it is still a beautiful story. It made me very happy. He is also a rapper and the theme song is one of my favourites! Check it out! There are, I think, 6 parts of his videos. It's the Easter break, so feel free to binge watch all of them!!
